Hi, I'm Paul Atkins

I have wide experience in education as a teacher, teacher-trainer, and academic manager in the international ELT sector and in UK Further and Higher Education. I know my subject, too: I have the Cambridge DELTA and a Masters in Applied Linguistics. I’m known for my caring, energetic, demanding, fun, and – above all – successful methods.

My approach

If you’re a student, a teacher or you run a school, you’ll be familiar with bland claims from “passionate educators” about individualised learning, excellence, engagement, etc. These are all very important to teaching and learning, of course, and I make the same claims myself. However, unlike many, my practice is rooted in scholarship and knowledge. With 35 years’ experience in education I am a genuinely expert teacher, an authoritative, empathetic teacher trainer, a strategic, analytical leader and manager. But don’t take my word for it! I’m very strongly committed to raising and maintaining standards; I expect my clients to buy in to this ethos too. Sounds demanding? Good! I’m dynamic and engaged, and I will push you to achieve. But I also value respect, empathy and sensitivity. I believe in collaboration, working together to build individualised, scaffolded support with clear, measurable, and ambitious aims. My approach is to help people reflect, analyse, question, and learn fast and well.
